Just received my S&P Outlook for '98 in the mail today. AMAT once again in the platinum portfolio along with KLAC. From the year ended December 31, 1986 to the end of may, the Platinum Portfolio was up 744% compared with 350% for the S&P 500 index. Stocks in the fair value model are ranked in 5 tiers. Tier 5 is the highest and contains the stocks considered the most undervalued.
............... AMAT.......KLAC
Fair Value Rank....4...........5
Stars..................5...........5
Quality Rank.......B...........B-
Est EPS(98).......$1.41.......$1.73
Fair Value........$40.70......$43.50

And say about AMAT: "Shares of maker of semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment oversold on Asian woes."
