Dale,

Thanks for the technical info on AMD/Cyrix. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds (or unravels) for the chip cos.

No problem.. I am always willing to share whatever information/knowledge I have ;-)

Intel stated NSM probably does have legal rights to the P6 bus, but the P6 bus is also covered by trade secrets and they hinted it isn't going to be easy for NSM to reverse engineer it.

Dale, I wouldn't be too quick to buy that. Afterall the same engineers completely reverse engineered the MMX and x86 instruction sets not to mention devised their own 3d-extenstions (some of which were merged into 3d-now if I remember correctly). Cyrix has some of the smartest engineers in the indsutry. Remember Cyrix was a tiny company that managed to keep up with Intel. The only TRUE short coming of Cyrix was their lack of a fab plant and subsequently process and die optimization experience. From what I have heard this has been fixed in NSM's Portland fab, which is running at higher yields than IBM's!!!!! (and better speed grades too).

BTW: Nice call on COMS. It looks like you did your homework. You mention the other day that is where you were going to put your money and COMS was up over 10% today. Which I'm sure you know about.

16% actually but hey <G>.. I have also now thrown some money into QNTM. I know the DD sector is "tanking", but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it all hinges around the following:

DVD & High-speed net access (not too mention Windows 98/the migration to NT and the fact that WDC won't be around much longer and the asian cash crunch will slow the expansion by Fujitsu, Maxtor and Samsung).

I think COMS has legs for $35 in about 2 weeks in not sooner. Then I will think about getting out for a while.

Actually I can't complain lately.. I bought some cdv.to at $9 and sold it at $12.35 4 trading days later for a nice profit. COMS has done well and will continue to do well. QNTM should be near the bottom (just comming off it now). I was half tempted to buy some SEG as well, but I didn't want to over expose myself. I grabbed some SIII with the logic that they may soon be bought (they hold several key patents which MS has now licensed for use in the OS, so other "bigger" vendors will want some of that IP).

Steve
