Hello Alex, just back from the shareholders meeting.
Someone asked about the one network center and what
would happen in an earthquake. Markman said the
center was designed to withstand up to an 8.0 quake.
He also said that the new equity investment today
would allow them to ramp up to meet the expected
demand for their service.

Markman gave a live demo of Portico while someone
manipulated the online version which was displayed
on a large screen. The online version looked to be
a java application displayed in a browser. It was
slick, polished and fairly simple. Portico did fine.

Other interesting points (for me) were a slide showing
target markets with Portico targeting 5 million users,
most of which were broken down into the category
cellular carrier. Ellen Swenson of Cellular one was
sitting there smiling.

Under futures he had a slide up briefly that showed a
target consumer market of just under 5 million and
an enterprise target of over 5 million. He said they
would be pursuing these markets in 99. He said the focus
was almost entirely on Portico and delivering revenue in
the "send half of 98".

He also mentioned that they were holding analyst/investment
house meetings and one last week in San Fransisco was very well
attended. Asked why, if they had seen the Portico demo,
they had not come out with buy recommendations, Markman smiled
and said they were smart people and they were making their
plans, and then chuckled.

They had the magic phone, data rover and portico in the demo
room afterwards. All in all, positive and confident.
