Doug I feel awful that you had to take the time to write such a long piece. But the whole thing boils to 2 sentences from your own write-up:

Those who license Rambus designs, the RAM chip makers, will remain commodity producers.
......
Ironic perhaps that an archetypal IP only vendor will derive its utterly non-commodity revenues from commodity producers. But there you are. That's where it's at.

Right, exactly. That's where it's at! If you agree that those who license will remain commodity producers, how much license do you think Rambus will be able to collect from them?

Let me put it to you this way. Anything and everything that will go into a PC will be commodity. Intel won't have it any other way. They didn't go out of their way to crash the DRAM market so that they would push it back up with RDRAMs and make it un-affordable for people to buy PCs. Yes, it's that simple.

If you disagree with the .43 for Fiscal '00, then show me how much revenues & earnings this company will derive and how.

We can preach each other forever, but let's get to the bottom line. Show me how they (or you) will get rich. Also, do yourself a favor and don't pay for R&D from 17 years from now. Their key engineers may be long dead or with another company.
