I checked into Ameritrade, which as far as I can tell is the only broker which will currently allow you to make spread trades over the internet... A trade consisting of 12 options would be a commission of only 41.40 or there abouts... E*trade requires going through a broker which adds an additional $15.00 on top of the minimum which would be close to Ameritrade's rates...but cannot be done online. Wall Street Access that sells itself as a discount broker specializing in options trades would be around $160.00 for the same trade. Ouch.
