I'm not in sports, but in TV... I worked for a division of SportsChannel when I worked for CNBC in sales...we owned or repped several sports properties. The only thing they make money on are local sports like the Yankees in NYC or other big name teams. But you are correct about the ass kissing. I'm not good at it either, and I wind up pissing people off.
