Mt Wilson? Angeles Nat'l Forest? So, you're out here in the Land of the Fruits and Nuts, too? I have a pineapple sage and Gartenmeister fuschia just outside of my sliding glass door, so I get to watch lots of hummingbirds feeding. (Never have seen them hang out drinking piss, but maybe these are wimp hummers). I also have a blue see-through patio umbrella nearby. One day a hummer got underneath and couldn't figure out he had to fly down to escape. I got him to land on my finger, grabbed him, and freed him from his umbrella-prison.
