RE: Rays Points

"Languages WILL be profitable -- have you ever heard of SUPPLY AND DEMAND? W/P and spreadsheets are being given away; if BORL will simply NOT GIVE AWAY its languages"
>>
Yes, heard of supply and demand, not sure of the point there given the already massive supply. As far as not giving away products enhancing profitability, hopefully neither you nor Borland has just stumbled upon that concept. Charging money is something the competition has already implemented.

>>
"2. BORL has consistently produced superior language products to those of MSFT since BORL's inception."
>>
That's apparently not the consensus in the marketplace even after they blew a several year head start and never regained even the shadow of a lead. That claim doesn't standup to reality in any way shape or form. Unsubstantiated hyperbole.

>>
"I've been developing software since the early 70s."

There's that worthless "I've been X for Y" argument which has been the subject of thousands of replies so I won't waste any more time with another one.

"MSFT has consistently turned out inferior language development products (as well as O/S) while BORL has ALWAYS been the technology leader."

Borland has always been claiming to be the leader while their sales plummeted and loyal users moved to products that delivered what they needed instead of a bunch of unwanted, poor quality, and largely unfinished and undocumented features with no support.

"Paradox for DOS has been the indisputable leader in DOS databases for years. And support has ALWAYS been excellent. I've personally seen BORL respond to numerous requests for product improvement by the user community. You'll NEVER see MSFT respond like that."

OK, so you are a satisfied Paradox developer. Next to Clipper, that's probably the most poorly designed database development system in the known universe. At best a toy database which was crushed by several other products a long time ago.

The imminently employable left Borland a long time ago. It's straight down hill from here and those looking for a turnaround would be far better off elsewhere. At best they will tread water until the next tech stock correction then plummet again.
