Muffy awoke with a start. Frankly, I've always been curious about that phrase. How does one awake with a start. How might one awake with a finish? But, that doesn't matter right now. Interesting question, though.
The plane had just touched down at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. Muffy was glad to be back in the good ol' U S of A. Her experiences in foreign countries had left her longing for her home turf. She still doesn't know what happened to her from the time she was fired from the cannon until she went through that awful cathartic expressionism thing in Kuala-Lampur. But, she had the strangest feeling that she had been a roll of Christmas wrapping paper. Weird.
She waved goodbye to Ms. Norma, the Transportation Titan, and hailed a taxi. Ms. Norma was already on the phone with some guy named "Davidson", and was speaking rapidly.
The taxi arrived almost immediately. Muffy got in, said "Uhhh ... gosh, I've forgotten where I live. Wait a minute, driver." She got out of the taxi, and yelled to Ms. Norma. Norma, a bit displeased that she was being yelled at by that ... nubile hussy ... hurried on over to see what was wrong.

It seemed that no matter where she went, life was interesting, so it didn't really matter whether she knew where she was or not. A very simplistic approach to life management, don't you think? Relieves a lot of stress.
Anyway, the taxi driver finally stopped, and Muffy got out. She went to pay the driver, and he said, "No thanks. Ms. Norma already paid me", then sped away.
"Well, wasn't that nice of Ms. Norma?", thought Muffy.
She turned around to see where the taxi driver had dropped her off. To Muffy's surprise, it was at the ... |
