Steven, I read the SJ Business J. about Borl complex and I do not think the article has any negative tone on it. I agree that it will be diffcult to sell the complex, but this should have nothing to do with its book value. And Borland has the potential land deals that could be closed soon and we know the real estate market is red red hot in the valley.
Leasing part of the building will be easy and generate good cash for Borland. Our company just leased a 14,000 SF building in the valley, we paid more than 75% than what we paid for 2 1/2 years ago, and we were forced to sign 5 years lease in order to get the deal.
I do not if I would buy the stock at the current price ($8), but short it at $9 (~350M market cap) is very brave-> good for you. If you want to talk about overvalue high tech stocks, there are so many. But in the red hot market, nothing is unreasonable. Just give you 2 - DGIT, XYLN. Look at their market cap vs. revenue and profit. For DGIT, I do not believe it will ever make a profit. Its business model does not make sense.
