You wouldn't have to put all of your money in an AMZN position to get wiped out. Shorts have unlimited loss potential; if someone shorted AMZN a year ago at $10 with 20% of their money and put the other 80% in 4 other $10 dollar stocks that each went up 50% to $15, the AMZN position would have lost $90 by now, wiping them out a few days ago.
