That's my point; there isn't more room. Do you decide to invest based on number of shares or % of your portfolio? It should be the latter shouldn't it? (Answer: Yes it should.) Say you have 100,000 bucks and you decide you want to put 30% into THQ. (Good idea.) Before the split that will buy 1000 shares. After the split it will buy 2000 shares. There's no more room for people after the split, unless the universe of investors is filled with people who have fixed share amounts--rather than fixed % amounts--in mind.
