I had heard a fund manager who invests in SE Asia said the same thing about the Chinese not having to devalue.. wonder why they lately have been suggesting the possibility? bargaining power. They are trying to win concessions from both the Japanese and the US. They know many in the west are terrified of another round of Asian devaluations and with Clinton coming to town they are playing it for all its worth.
