e-Net, Inc. Signs Major Contract with ITF, Inc. for Sale of Its Data Telephony(TM) Hardware and Software to be Deployed in IP Telephony Service Between the United States and Latin America <> June 26, 1998 GERMANTOWN, Md., June 25 /PRNewswire/ via NewsEdge Corporation -- e-Net, Inc. (Nasdaq: ETEL), a leading provider of patented Data Telephony(TM) products, today announced it has signed an agreement with telecommunications provider ITF, Inc. for the sale of a broad range of e-Net's patented hardware and software products to be used by ITF in the delivery of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services between Miami and South American countries. ITF further indicated its intention to purchase additional e-Net products to be used as it expands VoIP service offerings to other major markets -- principally in Latin and South America.
The current agreement calls for ITF to purchase from e-Net twelve (12) of its Telecom 2000(TM) T-1/E-1 Gateways, two of which are to be delivered at this time, along with Data Telephony software and licenses, Gateway Management(TM) and Gateway Billing(TM) services, plus a quantity of the company's recently introduced consumer product, NetConnect(TM). ITF will package its Data Telephony(TM)service offering under ITF's name, "Speak2Phone." To access data telephony services, ITF customers will install a NetConnect(TM) telephony card into their PC and plug an ordinary analog telephone directly into the NetConnect telephone jack. The customer can place ordinary telephony calls accessing the ITF gateway for low-cost, long distance service.
Customers can also enjoy the benefits of data telephony by dialing from a regular phone into an ITF gateway, inputting a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and the desired telephone number, thereby automatically accessing an ITF gateway and achieving low-cost, long distance service.
In making today's announcement, e-Net President and CEO, Rob Veschi, stated, "ITF has developed a powerful, innovative business model incorporating e-Net's Data Telephony technology to provide cost-effective VoIP services in international markets. We are particularly pleased that in the rapidly growing and increasingly demanding data telephony marketplace, ISPs and corporations alike are selecting e-Net and its patented Telecom 2000(TM) technology to be the engine for the delivery of Data Telephony worldwide."
Also commenting on today's announcement was Fred Harrick, Chairman, ITF, Inc., who stated, "Interest in utilizing the Internet to provide cost- effective voice and fax transmissions is expanding rapidly. After carefully studying the market, we selected e-Net's data telephony technology as the highest quality and most cost-effective available. Today's announcement represents the first major step in ITF's VoIP strategy. We fully expect to expand our relationship with e-Net and our Speak2Phone service into other markets."
