The ability to call a short I would assume is based on a number of factors. Some of which you've shared. Iomega has been beaten down for quite some time, so you may be catching the bottom, or you could short against a company that has an almost insurmountable lead in its category.

Your choice. But, unless you're talking tens of thousands of dollars, then I would think that the upside is a better gamble than the downside.
