Allen there's something I don't understand. Subscribers to AOL are already subscribers to LD service. Just because a LD company acquires AOL why does that necessarily mean that they would acquire some portion of those customers' LD business. I don' think this is a given. The trend is toward unbundling of services. The real question is what would the acquiring LD company get in the way of assets necessary to be a better ISP -- content?? Doesn't AOL have to use the public networks to be an ISP provider? Convince me that a long distance company or an RBOC needs AOL to be a viable ISP provider. What can AOL do if RBOC's or LD companies subsidize their own IS to put AOL and others out of business?
