Doug, VSVR was rumored as a takeover candidate (by CSCO?) some time ago. Although VSVR has moved up in price recently, I haven't seen any trading indications to suggest it is currently in play. There has been very little option or block trading activity (although blocks have been more buys & very few sells). It appears that the videoconferencing market is finally beginning to show signs of turning around, after stalling from confusion over new "cheaper?" products. I have also noticed very recent insider buying by top mgt. in PCTL, VSVR & WPNE. -Haven't seen this in a LONG time. Also, here's a link to an article that Patriot recently posted on the PCTL thread, which you may find of interest: news.com
I particularly liked the following comment:
"customers delayed purchases awaiting cheaper Internet-based systems. Now consumers are realizing the cheaper systems weren't worth the wait and corporations are buying again, analysts said."
PCTL & VSVR used to trade in tandem. This could change a bit, since PCTL purchased another smaller networking co (I forgot the name), and hence may not rely as much on VSVR. This should have little effect on VSVR, as their customer base has since diversified and their relationship with premier companies such as CSCO and INTC has strengthened.
All of the above is just MHO. Since the slowdown in the videoconferencing market, I haven't been paying much attention to VSVR, PCTL & WPNE (other than just watching the prices deteriorate). Things are beginning to look interesting. VTEL may be worth looking at as well. (FWIW, I checked & there have not been any insider purchases in VTEL though.)
Hope this helped-
JL
p.s. Weren't you trading a lot options on VSVR a while back? If so, are you looking again? I was considering some of the further out calls, myself. |
