Hey Spots,

check out my post to zeus on this subject. For relatives the answer IMO is never to build one for them. Far too many headaches and phone calls.... Honestly: dell, gateway, and micron all build good machines and provide good (relative) support of their products. They don't go ballistic with tons of BS software like compaq, acer, and packard bell. Local shops are often good for these users but I can never get past the cheap components they often use. All of these have factory outlets where you can buy left over machines and brand new ones that were sent back in the 30 day period for a discount. I have bought 6 returned microns in the last 6 months for friends and all have been very happy and don't ever call me to complain.
