CHIP & THREAD A QUESTION... When you purchase shares of stock from a cold call broker or any brokerage house for that matter...do you actually buy that stock at the moment or is it just a change of moneys with the brokerage firm. Example.. If you purchase a security @ 10 on 1-2-97 and you request the stock certificates to be transferred to your personal posession at a later date, 15 months later for instance, what is the dating on the stock certificates going to show for a purchase date. Does anyone know what the rules are in respect to a situation like this. Gratefull for any factual information.

Rick
