Annual Meeting this morning. Traders with a 30 day or 300 day horizon
will still want to stay away. For a 3 year horizon, MCOM might have
a good payback.

Autobahn will be demo'd next month on Wall Street. SFBayArea will
see a partial deployment next spring. By the start of 2000 they
expect to have Autobahn deployed in multiple cities. (Overheard:
there'll be 14 cities). Tomorrow they are meeting to strategize
about raising additional capital.

On the engineering front they are researching smaller modems, maybe
PCMCIA with the antenna sticking out. One difficult problem with
such a device is engineering the electrical power. If it has no
battery of its own, it could suck the laptop or palm-sized computer
dry. Cheaper modems are also being worked on.

Soap Opera Stuff
Ex Prez Dilworth spoke first, announcing his about-to-be-certified
move to board member. He named the 3 new board members, tripping
over the word "myself". New Prez looks clean, seems to be plugged
in already. Dreisbach speaks well when answering questions, but
prepared remarks are heavily laced with "ah"s placed well back in
the throat, an ugly sound if there ever was one. He got off one
good howler: "We're the most mobile socitey in history." Anyone
heard of nomads or gypsies?

Back to business. Dreisbach finished the formal part of his talk
with What Can You Shareholders Do? (that's not exact). I liked
that. He encouraged us to proselytize, and thanked us for our
patience. For these times and that audience it was an appropriate
message.

The meeting lasted an hour.
