chris, thanks for the S.J. Mercury link. Between it and your earlier post quoting from a writer on the IP Telephony thread, it sure seems as if T has made a risky gamble. I am not remotely qualified to opine on these matters, but as a layman cable does not look ready for prime time, i.e., telephony. It's bad enough when your cable goes on the fritz just before the 49'ers kick-off, but if that was a medical emergency and 911 wasn't available . . . . . OTOH, maybe CABLESPAN, or satellite links, or LMDS, or ADSL will ride to the rescue. All that seems clear is that the last mile puzzle ain't been solved yet! Regards, Mike Doyle |
