Jack, you're approx. correct, there are some ratios that would be possible without a shareholder vote. The issue is how effective would some of these ratios be and how confusing would they be to execute and communicate. After you account for equivalents, the ratio is not even as nice as those you listed below. Also, don't forget the issue of a fractional dividend.

<<John, doesn't Intel currently have 1.5 billion shares shares authorized while it actually has only about half of that currently outstanding? If the 1.5 figure is correct, then couldn't a stock split be authorized at the 5 for 3 or 3 for 2 levels? Or, is a vote going to be required even for that?>>
