I have been watching this thread for several months now after getting in at 5 3/8. I was up in NY over the holiday weekend and learned two bits of information. First, the BA Nynex merger was being held up by some commitee (sorry for lack of facts) because they wanted NYNEX to come up with a plan to reimburse their customers for their incredible lack of service. (NY Times) It didn't say how long the delay was going to be. Secondly, I have a good friend who works for General Instruments who said that his company has just entered into an agreement with NYNEX to provide data compression technology to allow regular phone lines to handle video, voice and data transmissions. He did not think that they would consider persuing wireless video because of this breakthrough technology. Anyways, I'm no expert on the technology but it appears that BANX might be leaning another direction when they finally do merge.
