Paul,

You didn't even congratulate me on my purchases :(

How many others in the world have similar needs? How many software writers, WEB page programmers, Video Special effects designers, circuit designers, PC board designers, publishing/layout designers, shampoo bottle designers, security analysts, etc., are out there among th3 6 billion people of the world?

If I knew that I would publish the results and charge for it. I do know the number is smaller than the number of people that would buy a $500 PC.

They are all in the same boat you are in - and Intel floats that boat.

Yes they are, and yes they do. I have never disputed that. Intel is _THE_ high performance solution for _SERIOUS_ x86 computing (I'm not talking about gaming here). However, you should be thanking be instead of berating me.

Before I showed up, those purchases would have been Sun Ultra60's. But I had the confidence and faith to say "hey let's get the x86 boxes, they are just/almost as fast and the can run Word too!".. (btw: most purchases at the university for this kind of equipment is still Ultra Sparc, Dec Alphas and PA-RISC boxes, for what reason I'm not sure).

Steve
