My, my, my. Your mouse ball(s) are dirty. What a surprise, after what you've been doing with them.

Try alcohol, q-tips and a lint-free cloth. Blow gently to dry them. They like that. The Q-tips can be dipped in alcohol and used to dig out that ground-in dirt that's up inside your mouse. Can't imagine how it got there. Yes, I can. For shame.
