Stockman:

Celeron is selling for $100. If Intel sells enough of these suckers they might report a loss. If I can buy it for $100 then Intel is probably getting for $80.

Estimated Costs:

Ceramic package= $25
PC boar cartridge with surface mounts resistors= $15
Silicon= $40
-----------------
Total cost= $80
-----------------
Price=$80
-----------------
Profit= $0

At 131mm^2 the max. per wafer is about 190. Assuming yield is 90% (I am in a giving mood :) ) then Intel gets about 171 dice/wafers.
$40 * 171 = $6840/wafer. Intel has been getting more than $20K in profit per wafer. One solution to recover the cost is to ship all the PII to TSMC in Taiwan. They are charging about $2500/wafer without bump. Bump will cost $3000/wafer.

If I were you I would watch INTC stock very carefully. The competing landscape has changed. INTC is no longer enjoying the profit they have been getting in the last few years.
