from Jublak - <<It helps to think of the future communications network as the union of two very different markets. On one
side -- what's commonly called the "enterprise" side, but which I'll characterize as bottom-up -- we have
all the gear that's needed to connect workers inside a company to each other (in local area networks, for
example), to outside customers (in what are now being called extranets), and to the wider global Internet.
Products here are Ethernet cards and routers, access concentrators and switches. Competitors include
3Com Corp. (COMS), Ascend Communications Inc. (ASND), Bay Networks and Newbridge Networks
Corp. (NN), but Cisco clearly dominates the market. In fact, I'd say that while companies such as Ascend
may still rule a profitable niche, the game is over. Cisco has won. (Please keep your hate mail to 25
words or less.)>>

wrong information with limited networking knowledge as ASND today doesn't play much at all in the Enterprise arena - heard from a friend relating to this info - something like from an old saying - pretty empty barrel makes more noise -
