My daughter has over 100 of them. She does not, however, have the Princess Bear, cause in additon to her 100+ Beanies, she also has an ElCheapo for a mom who refuses to pay the $500 that bear brings. Besides, if I thought more than the 5.99 that the Ty Corporation would actually go to the Princess' Trust, I may reconsider. However, until then, she will just have to stick with the ones she has. I lucked out, however, and found them in a gift shop in the Orlando airport last year. They were at the height of their popularity in Atlanta, but had apparantly not hit Orlando yet. I had been on a business trip for over a week, so the Mom-Guilt thing was going on, and it was also her birthday, and best of all, were only 3.99 each! I got her like 25 of them there.
She has most of the retired ones. Her favorite is Ali the Gator, but of course, mine is Righty, the Republican Elephant.
As for an investment....Nah...I have a whole attic full of those great investments. Micro Machines, Garbage Pail Kid Trading Cards, even Wacky Pack trading cards. The value is the feeling you get when you see the child enjoying it.
Collectibles in general, however, can be lucrative. The current issue of MoneyWorld is about collectibles.
