What exactly are your accusing Big Dog of?
NBET was first posted by BD on 6/15/98. I was in that day at $2.69. On the previous trading day, NBET was at $2.47. To the best of my knowledge, the stock never rose after that, and only headed straight south. I sold on June 19 @ $1.75.
If this is "pump and dump," where is the "pump" part ??? How did BD profit at my expense?
I sold because I thought better of NBET as a long term investment. IMHO (arrived at a bit late!), investing in gambling stocks is bucking a negative trend. It's akin to investing in a tobacco stock. Gambling is being widely viewed by society as a destructive addiction, and as the Internet gets sorted out over time there is a likelihood that restrictions will be imposed on allowing the Net to be used for such activity.
At about the same time that BD gave us NBET, he also recommended TCBG. I invested in that, also, at $0.75. A few days later it was trading at about $1.40. That would have made up for, and then some, my loss on NBET. I'm still holding TCBG and it has slipped some since that high, but that is my choice.
It seems to me that the worst one can accuse BD of, is some bad judgement as to the near-term price movement of NBET (though I suspect it was more likely misinformation given to him about upcoming news). The longer term remains to be seen. I believe he acted in good faith in making the pick, and fail to see any basis for attacking his motives or honesty. |
