Here's the message from Peter Troop. He left this word for word on my Voice mail at work last week to reply to my question about the SEC filing:

"Hello Tom it's Peter Troop at Novell, It's now 1:30 California time on Wednesday. Im going to be leaving shortly, I will try and reach you next week. You phoned regarding the SEC 8a filing, that was an updating of a shareholders rights plan that was initially filed in 1988. The changes that were made weren't viewed as material and because of that the company itself did not make an announcement on the filing. However awkward the timing might be taken it was purely a procedural thing that the attorneys thought was ok to do last Friday. It extended the time frame for the program ten years out from here. it was the '88 program that will be expiring here in coming periods. And they made ammendments that updated it from the last time amendments were made which was in '93. Hopefully that helps, Im at area code (xxx)xxx-xxxx. And we've also stated that the filing wasn't made in relation to any knowledge the company has about any intended actions, attempted takeovers from others, or whatnot. So we've tried to be clear about that".

That was everything he said, and I do have the message still and would be willing to set up a voice mailbox with this in it if anyone wanted to hear it for themselves (not always smart to take people's word here, but this forum is very good in comparison). After listening to it and writing down everything he said, I take back most of what I said in my last message. He never denied a possible takeover, he just said that the filing had nothing to do with it, which is not denying the possiblity of a takeover. Hope this helps a bit!

Tom
