The Moron Sampson saga continues...

Here are parts of another news wire along with my comments for anyone who cares (if not click next)

cut---------------------------------------------------------------
Alexi Lalas and Jeff Agoos joined Tab Ramos in saying they wouldn't play for the national team again as long as Sampson remains as coach. Sampson said he deserved to stay on and launched into an attack on Ramos.
"Here is in an individual I essentially held a spot open for eight, nine months. I didn't have to do that," Sampson said. "I played Tab in the most critical match, against Iran. Tab was responsible for the first goal against us.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The guy not only accepts responsibility for his blunders, for alienating the spirit of the team, he shows that he is a VICIOUS human being too! Tab was responsible for Iran's first goal??????He should be shot for making such a moronic statement! Tab should feel thankful for holding open a spot fore 8,9 months?????????This guy should have started EACH game and not have the whole team depend on soft Reyna (u see how the German player marking him ate him alive, he never let him breathe). And didn't the asshole say yesterday that he never criticizes his players???????This guy is a MISTAKE.

cut---------------------------------------------------------------
"It's unfair he feels free to voice his opinion about me when I gave him so much respect. I don't understand where athletes get this freedom to express themselves."
------------------------------------------------------------------

What respect are u talking about you idiot? You call it respect having Tab languish on the bench when Reyna was nowhere to be found on the field? You call it respect not playing him at all against the Yugos? Would you have played him if he didn't talk to the media after the second game? These guys are all professionals. They talked so critically about you because they CARE about US soccer and know that you should NOT have this job, the sooner you leave the better.

cut-----------------------------------------------------------------
Lalas said he had no regrets about his actions, even though U.S. Soccer Federation president Alan Rothenberg cautioned players to think twice about their remarks.
"I feel completely at ease with what I've said and the way I've handled myself," Lalas said. "I've stood up for this team at times and told the truth, maybe paid the price at points. That's part of being a leader, and I believe in American soccer. That's all that meant anything to me anymore."
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you Alexi, a true US soccer warrior.

cut-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Was it an issue of poor tactics, poor organization, poor decisions on the part of the coach during a match? Or was it an issue of players not executing when they need to? If it's the former, then the federation has every right to release me," Sampson said. "If it's the latter, I think I still have a lot to offer."
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The idiot doesn't get it...he is truly pathetic.

cut-----------------------------------------------------------------
Would it be fair to dismiss me?" Sampson asked. "No. This team has improved, shown progress.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, improved, progress. What the hell is this guy smoking?

cut-----------------------------------------------------------------
All Sampson's previous coaching had been done at college level. He guided Santa Clara to the 1989 NCAA Division One title and was named College coach of the year for the achievement.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Rothenberg should be blamed also for hiring this guy. Maybe it's not Sampson's fault. He performed to the best of his NCAA ability.

And now I would like to close with the Japanese Coach's comments after the loss to Jamaica (and 3rd straight loss, all of them quite respectable actually):

"I will quit as a professional coach," Okada said. "When a coach fails to achieve what he sets out to do, he should quit. It is my responsibility. I was not able to draw the best out of the players in this match."
