Bill, I have heard before about Hillary's blind trust shenanigans. Do we know for sure what the circumstances were? Has this actually been proven?
What I meant in my post is that the Clintons were trying to get better health coverage for Americans. The Canadian program at least offers health care to everyone, although there are certainly delays for elective procedures, and the rich often seek private medical care even though everyone is covered. Still, with all its faults, this system beats ours, which is chaotic, hit and miss, and leaves many people uncovered. The HMO's are making huge profits and attempting to deny coverage wherever they can. I have worked in medicine, and experienced first hand many of the horror stories that are widely told now all over the country. They are true. All of this has infuriated so many Americans that the Republicans have realized it is a major campaign issue, if they can just harness it for their own benefit. Unfortunately, it involves regulating a business, something which is contrary to Republican ideology. So I see them as opportunistic on this issue.
I love to talk to Jack Clarke about health care. Perhaps he will drop by and tell us what he thinks. I do think that even though it is easy to vilify the Clintons, their hearts were in the right place in believing that in a society this wealthy, everyone should be entitled to health care as a basic right, as they are in other civilized societies. |
