Semicon West is the week of July 13-17, Mon-Weds in San Francisco, Weds-Fri in San Jose. Further information is at the SEMI web site, semi.org.
Some companies will have fully-visible, fully-functioning equipment on display. Some companies will have only the front panels visible, with the guts of the machine hidden in a back room. (Unless you are a customer, a BIG investor, or press, they probably won't invite you into the back room, but that partly depends on how busy they are.) Some types of equipment are inherently more interesting than others.
If you've never seen semi equipment, I'd recommend it. I'd also recommend SEMI's "Silicon Run" videos as the next best thing to a cleanroom tour. If you are interested in seeing any particular company's equipment, it might be worth your while to call investor relations and ask for a booth tour. Worst they can do is say no.
