Christine First and foremost, thanks for that wonderful quote.
My guess is that they will ignore Ghandi's quote, or try and tear it down. Why tear down a quotation that says nothing but it is possible to live in peace? Because of some inane fear that becasue it wasnt written by a Christian, that it must therefore be a threat to christianity. (I am only talking about a select few on this thread, I am not generalizing about all christians)
It is that type of fear, that leads to isolation, separation, and eventually mistrust and hatred. It is the silliest of all emotions, because it is baseless and unnecessary.
The reason I can not get an answer to my questions is very simple. Hatred can not thrive in the light of day. When hatred is confronted in a persistent and peaceful manner, when the rhetoric is stripped away (as logic always does) hatred is then exposed, and it must either hide in the shadows, or stand true and announce itself in clear view. Most people are too ashamed of their hatred to do that, so they lurk in shadows instead, and hide their views behind rhetoric and vitriol that is meant to keep people apart instead of bring them together.
Beauty and truth can come in many packages and many forms. Sometimes that beauty may be contained within christianity, but sometimes beauty comes in other packages as well. That fact does not take away from christianity but enhances it, for beauty can only complement itself, and not denigrate itself. It's too bad that more people dont realize that.
thanks again for that beautiful quote.
