CJPG, UNLV Join Forces To Present Industry's First Comprehensive
Casino Education Conference

UNLV's Casino Ops Is The Gaming Industry Conference Where Today's Leaders Meet Tomorrow's Executives

LAS VEGAS, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The casino industry has long been concerned about a shortage of formal
gaming education for its employees. While universities in Nevada offer a wide range of courses focusing on gaming,
few other institutions of higher education even recognize gaming as a business discipline.

To fill that void, the International Gaming Institute at the University of Nevada Las Vegas has joined with Casino
Journal Publishing Group (OTC Bulletin Board: CJPG - news) to present UNLV's Casino Ops '98, the inaugural
conference designed to offer an intensive two-day program concentrating solely on successful and innovative gaming
operations. UNLV's Casino Ops will be held on June 22 & 23, 1998 at the new meeting facilities at Caesars Palace in
Las Vegas. The conference will include two full days of seminars, special events, an exhibit hall, and networking
opportunities for the speakers and attendees.

UNLV's Casino Ops is designed to give members of middle and lower management in gaming operations a
well-rounded overview of how a successful casino functions. Seminars are divided into three areas: Table Games, Slot
Operations, and Casino Issues (human resources, financial insight, tribal gaming, and other subjects). Each 90-minute
panel will feature a moderator and at least three panelists, who are widely regarded as experts in their fields. Speakers
will include many member and adjunct members of UNLV's faculty, high level executives actively involved in casino
operations, executives with some of the industry's leading supply and service companies, influential gaming attorneys,
and public officials involved in regulating gaming.

In addition to casino management, attending Casino Ops would be valuable for mid-level executives with supply and
service companies; gaming regulators, educators, and financial analysts who need to understand the specifics of casino
operations.

The Keynote Luncheon at UNLV's Casino Ops includes an address by Peter Boynton, Chairman of Caesars World
Inc., a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. With more than 20 years of experience in the gaming
industry, Boynton has recently warned of an upcoming shortage of qualified gaming executives, as some of the
industry's major companies open huge megaresorts in Las Vegas, Mississippi, and Atlantic City.

More than 70 speakers are scheduled to take part in the conference, including such important executives and officials as
Jason Ader, Senior Managing Director, Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc.; Carl Braunlich, Associate Professor, Purdue
University; Shannon L. Bybee, Executive Director, UNLV-IGI; Frank Catania, Director, New Jersey Division of
Gaming Enforcement; Alida Delponte, Vice President of Casino Operations, MGM Grand Hotel Casino; Alan M.
Feldman, Vice President, Public Affairs, Mirage Resorts; John Groom, Chief Operating Officer, Players International
Inc [Nasdaq:PLAY - news].; Mark Juliano, President and Chief Operating Officer, Caesars Atlantic City; Robert
McMonigle, Executive Vice President, International Game Technology; James J. Murren, Executive Vice President &
CFO, MGM Grand Inc [NYSE:MGG - news].; Hilary Owl Osborn, Chairman, Tribal Casino Gaming Enterprise
Board, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians; Mac R. Seelig, President, A.C. Coin & Slot Service Co.; and many more.

Other special events include a poolside Welcome Reception on June 21 at the Caesars Palace recently renovated spa area,
continental breakfasts and networking breaks.

UNLV's Casino Ops is affiliated with the Casino Management Association, an organization devoted to the professional
development of casino employees. Members of CMA receive a substantial discount when registering for Casino Ops.

Patrons of UNLV's Casino Ops include some of the industry's most progressive companies, and will present their
innovative products and services during networking breaks and other sessions.

UNLV's Casino Ops '98 is sponsored by the International Gaming Institute at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. The
IGI is part of the William F. Harrah School of Hotel Administration, and has been offering quality and complete gaming
education for more than 20 years. Ground has been broken for a new building at UNLV for the Institute, and
completion is scheduled for 1999.
