Interview with Michael Dell (Audio available):

... Q: Would you look at the European market two years, five years, 10 years down the road, and it's importance to Dell?
A: Dell's business in Europe this year will be approximately the same size as all of Dell was three years ago. ...

... I think the game gets really interesting here because Dell goes from fast-follower in the server market to product leadership.
And if these guys think they're going to maintain 40 percent gross margins as we're zooming ahead of them in technology, and the customer everyday realizes that there's no reason to pay these proprietary margins
. . . I hope they believe that. Because they're going to be in for a very unpleasant surprise and it's called Dell....

... Q: Is the delay of new Intel chip going to affect your plans?
A: Not measurably. This is not like Pentium, Pentium II or 486 to Pentium. This is a whole nother instruction set that's fundamentally very different. I don't see much effect there.
I think there is a lot of legs left in the 32-bit architecture. And we're going to come out in the first part of next year with eight-way servers, and we don't see a lot of things holding back our ability to grow the high end of the server market. Yeah, it keeps us out of the low end of the mainframe space, but I'm not sure we were ready to go there just yet.
Q: You do plan to be there?
A: Yeah, give us a few years. ...

... Q: Are you going to be looking at building a plant in South America, and where would that be?
A: We are. We haven't finalize it, but probably in Brazil. There will probably be an announcement in the next few years....
