mph...BI Research, an investment newsletter with a pretty good long term ranking according to Hulbert's newsletter tracking service, originally recommended Dycom in October of '97. The newsletter's latest recommendation is to buy the stock up to $28. BI has a website and I checked to see if the sample recommendation was the DY write up and you're in luck, it's at the following link:

biresearch.com

Tom Bishop, the editor of the newsletter, takes a strict fundamental approach to picking stocks. He is very theme based and you'll see a number of stocks in DY's industry that are also recommended; ALNK, and MTZ. Both of those stocks have been losers thus far and DY has fared much better than ALNK and MTZ, both of which have fallen substantially since their original recommendations. Using p&f analysis would have gotten you out of both of those stocks but Bishop takes a very long view and does not use technical analysis of any kind. He usually focuses on small cap stocks, but will occasionally choose a midcap name and those are the stocks that I find the most interesting. The latest recommendation in the May 20th newsletter was Sterling Software (SSW), which is a terrific company and also a Zacks portfolio recommendation.
If you're interested in DY you'll certainly enjoy the newsletters thorough analysis.

Take care,
Bruce
