Hi mike/christine:

I've got to share a story about these little critters.

Growing up in the poor parts of the city, I was very much familiar with those little creatures.(cockroaches) We basically lived side by side. Couldn't get rid of the buggers.

Anyway moving ahead to the age of 17, I was living on my own. I had very little money. Hung around the pool hall mostly.
During my time hanging out I got to meet many people and one in particular turned out to be a cousin of mine. (Roger) Our families came from the same parts of northern ontario etc etc.

Roger didn't have much money either so we thought pooling our money we could maybe rent an apartment and get off the streets for a while. One thing Roger did cherrish was his electric guitar and speaker. He went everywhere with it. Not a bad player either.

Anyway, we looked and looked for a place and finally came across a two story apartment building. I'd say it had about 50 rooms.
We knocked on the managers door and asked to see the room he was advertizing. It turns out there was only one room left.

Roger and I had a quick look around and decided to take it. This was something like 3:00 in the afternoon. We dropped our stuff off and headed out for the evening. Pool hall of course. It the only place we could afford to go to, and that was provided we stood in a corner somewhere and didn't buy anything. <gg>

Late that night after the pool hall closed we headed back to our room. I opened the door and turned on the lights. We got the shock of our life.
The room was covered with roaches. Walls, ceiling, floor, counter, everywhere. Thousands.

We marched down to the managers room and woke him up. He got dressed, came down to have a look. He didn't seem to surprized. A few minutes later he came back with a can of Raid. Prayed the room and left.

Didn't scare them one bit.

We had nowhere to go that night so we decided to tough it out. All of my possesions amounted to one large glad bag. My first thought was to put my clothes in a safe place. The fridge.

Needless to say we never slepted a wink all night. As a matter of fact I sat in a chair in the middle of the room for the entire night.

Roger was getting bored and decided to pull out his guitar and play quietly. He hooked up his speaker and strummed his strings.
Well as soon as he struck the first cord roaches came from everywhere. They went nuts. Now we had millions or at least that's how it seemed.

It was obvious this was the last apartment available for the critters to live in without the worry of being sprayed by it's occupents.

We sat there in disbelief. The night seem to drag on for so long that we even picked out a particular roach on the ceiling and bet the first morning coffee that it wouldn't reach the other side. Needless to say the roach never made it. It couldn't get through to the other side. Too many frigging bugs in the way. <gg>

Anyway to end the story, we got our money back the next day and moved on.
