Previously Placed Second, Moves to Sixth Place

CHICAGO, June 22 -- What's on the minds of today's most
influential CEOs? According to A.T. Kearney's second global CEO
survey, information technology (IT) and data management share
top billing on the CEO agenda, while corporate growth, which
placed second in the firm's 1996 survey, has now moved down the
agenda to sixth place.(1)

Year 2000 (Y2K): What is perhaps surprising -- and troublesome
-- is the finding that 16% of companies surveyed are still in the early
stages of addressing or have not yet begun to address the Y2K
issues. Especially ill-prepared are those in Emerging Markets, with
60% reporting their IT strategy is neither very well or even fairly
developed to address the issue. By contrast, nearly all Western
European and North American companies believe they are ready
for the next century.
