Mark, everything you said is highly relevant and true. I am still waiting for a cogent explanation of how the scribe made an error. Either the Bible is accurate or it is not, correct? It seems that there is little search for truth, but much convolution to prove certain points and disprove others.
I have presented tracts here written by Christian ministers and theologians explaining how the words in Leviticus were mistranslated, and that homosexuality itself was not the sin under attack, but men having sex with angels, temple prostitution, and heterosexuals having homosexual sex. Totally unnoticed in the larger discussion is giving up young girls for sexual favors. So is that acceptable behavior? And when I remark that Jesus does not mention homosexuality at all, no one ever responds.
Anyway, the most positive and loving and tolerant and gracious and spiritual ideas communicated on this thread often just lie there, seemingly ignored. I think they must be very disturbing!! The essential spirit of Christianity, and the truth that is found in all the great religions, is often very difficult to find, however. |
