Oh, Penni!! I think you should have saved your old crumbling Dr. Spock and had it encased in Lucite or something. It is a potent symbol of all your early parenting (sorry, Alex) experiences, good and bad, happy and very scary! I still have the La Leche book "Mothering Your Nursing Toddler", and "The Family Bed". If Briana decides at some point that we absolutely ruined her, I want her to know that we were not simply being perverse and cruel with our intensive nurturing, that we didn't just make it up as we went along. I want her to know that all that neurotic overprotection comes from somewhere!!!!! ;^)
