You're right, Alex, there are certainly details of parenting (sorry again) that are not intuitive. Especially the ones that keep changing. I would never have even thought of whether to put Briana on her belly. As I recall, she just rolled around on the floor or bed until she was the way she preferred to be. She was placid but very determined to get her way. Why is it that you have to keep them on their bellies now, anyway?

It's the big brush strokes of parenting that you can paint a wall with that are universal--giving the child plenty of love and attention, stimulation and bright colors, music and laughter and fresh, outdoor air.

So I guess you are much more liberal than your parents? That background at least explains to me why you seem so conservative for a pretty young person. I should add that my parents are socialists, and that I, too, have come a long way back towards the middle.
