were not that far off here, couple comments

- with proper leadership, vietnam could have been won quickly and easily. its the wishy washy, what gets more votes, finger in the wind, indecisive, cant we all get along, float a candle down the river attitudes that fray the lines of good and bad, right and wrong and make it literally impossible to solve a problem, becauae this indecisiveness cant even identify what exactly the problem is.
'today the supply is greater and prices cheaper'
- not true, new drugs have been created that are easier to produce and distibute, nevertheless, too many variables involved to accurately make that statement.
'the war has done untold harm on our constitutional rights'
couldnt agree more, but its far more than the drug war that has been doing this. when the people stop paying attention to their govt, their govt will take them over. jefferson said something like that. the incremental infringement on peoples rights in this country has been going on for far longer than the drug war. the thing that needs to be understood is their are a large amount of people in the country that believe the govt is more capable or running our lives than we are and have allowed this to happen. its sad, its lazy, and its true.

socialism and communism, etc are easy. freedom is a lot of work and we better instill and preach the moral standards this country was built on as the fabric is almost completely unwound. tough love, harsh penalties, moral outrage, whatever you want to call it. look for the moral fabric of this country to be the 2000 campaign march. moral outrage has taken a back seat last few years in favor of the stock market, everything runs in cycles and its not going to hurt my feelings one bit to see the next pres. talking God, family, community, character and moral responsibility....my guess is that it will resonate loudly.
john stossel does an excellent job, one of the few reporters worth his weight. most of the drug war is beauracratic cash cow nonsense, i agree completely. there is some collective wrong and right though, there are laws, everything cannot not be personal choice. i dont want to see my neighbor having a 'shooting up' party, i dont want to the kids in this country seeing people walking down the road with a pipe hanging out of their mouth. maybe there is no direct identifiable victim but my guess is the collective collapse of our society and our freedoms, and our safety truly begins.
