Bob, I just received a research report from Capitol Bay Securities in which they say "HGED is based on a phosphor technology with a design similar to a CRT." They also say it is lighter, thinner, and consumes less power than a CRT. The phosphor emission is direct; there are no layers blocking the transmission of light as in LCD"s. 1.5 inches thick 170 degree viewing angle.
