Fujitsu to reduce ratio of general-use DRAM chips
TOKYO, June 29 (Reuters) - Fujitsu Ltd (6702.T) said on Monday it would reduce the ratio of general-use dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips in its total DRAM operation in terms of value to less than half by the 2000/01 business year.
The ratio of the general-use DRAMs, used mainly in personal computers, stood at about 80 percent in 1997/98.

The company will instead focus on strengthening business in value-added DRAM chips, such as chips used for processing graphics, a company spokesman said.

The company had said last week that it may consider withdrawing from making DRAM chips, after posting a large loss in the DRAM business in 1997/98.
