IBM has been decreasing the percentage of its output devoted to DRAMs in favor of logic products, and shifting as much of the remaining DRAM work as possible to high-valued SRAMs and 64-Mbit DRAMs

If both Acer and Fujitsu ultimately exit the DRAM market, world supply of the chips will shrink by about 6 percent, according to Joseph Moore, semiconductor analyst at Goldman Sachs Investment Research (New York).
