MICOM/ Micom lays down the VoIP law

[Hey! That was the PR's headline, not mine...]

June 29, 1998

M2 PRESSWIRE via NewsEdge Corporation : White
Paper contains most comprehensive overview of voice /
fax over IP technology yet seen

Micom, a division of Nortel (Northern Telecom)'s
Enterprise Data Networks business unit, today launches
its White Paper on voice / fax over IP. Aimed at IT and
Network Managers, the paper is a comprehensive
50-page technology overview, outlining every aspect of
VoIP.

It focuses on the two primary aims of VoIP: firstly, to
'piggy-back' voice and fax calls over an IP data network
to save on long-distance charges, and secondly to
incorporate IP voice and fax into certain applications for
enhanced services.

It comprises advice on how to get the best voice quality
from the network, sample network configurations with
detailed network diagrams, how to make a VoIP phone
call, and examples of the possible cost savings.

"Many organisations are already reaping the benefits of
investing in VoIP, " said Lesley Hansen, international
marketing director at Micom. "But there is still a lot of
educational work to be done. The White Paper has been
compiled in response to calls from both customers and
resellers for a comprehensive reference document to
putting voice and fax over IP networks. "

The White Paper is available free, either by calling
Micom on 01252 302200, or by visiting www.micom.com
for a free download.
