I checked your explanation with Twiford of why smelting is necessary and he agreed fully with what you said. As you know, Twiford is a consultant for GPGI and not an official or director of the company. He runs an R&D lab. He told me that he was presently working to improve the leaching process with the hope, (expectation?) that he would be able to recover more than the $1,000 per ton as per the recent news release. At the same time he is looking for a method whereby he will be able to by-pass the smelting process altogether. He said that the outcome of this effort is uncertain.
