Corner Bay Minerals will start reverse circulation drilling on the Alamo Dorado silver/gold property near Alamos in the State of Sonora, Mexico. The drill program is planned as a result of positive results from past work that included geological mapping, surface sampling and trenching. Collectively, this work suggests there is good potential for a substantial silver/gold deposit that would be amenable to open pit mining.
At Alamo Dorado, silver/gold mineralization is structurally controlled along the eastern contact of a granodiorite intrusive. The structure is thought to be a wide shear zone with disseminated silver and gold throughout. The zone strikes north-north-west and dips to the west. Topographically, this is an excellent exploration target as the silver/gold rich structure outcrops on the top of a large hill and gently dips along the slope of the hill. This has positive implications for a low stripping ratio for mining. The drill program will focus on a mineralized area that has a surface expression 700 metres long and 65 metres wide. Due to steep topography this area could not be continuously sampled however, windows of silver and gold mineralization within the structure have been sampled where rock outcropping is exposed. The initial drill program calls for 1,600 metres of drilling in 10 holes on five sections over a strike length of 500 metres. Two holes will be drilled on each section and are designed to intersect the middle of the mineralized zones at roughly 40 and 80 metres vertically from surface. Drilling on the property will start immediately.
