Novell debuts tool kit to switch clients, servers to IntranetWare By Maria Seminerio
Novell Inc. today rolled out four migration tools for IntranetWare as part of its strategy for targeting Microsoft Corp.'s NT Server, LAN Manager and LAN Server customer base.
The products make up a portion of the company's BrainShare '96 Consulting Toolkit, which was first released to developers earlier this year, said Cort Ouderkirk, software consulting manager at Novell, in Provo, Utah.
The tool kit includes Lmigrate, a utility for migrating domain objects, file system data and access rights from the Microsoft products to IntranetWare; DOS/Windows and OS/2 Client Migration Tools for swapping the older client software for current versions of the IntranetWare client for DOS/Windows and OS/2; and the Samba.nlm product for switching client workstations to Novell services, Ouderkirk said.
IntranetWare is a crucial part of Novell's strategy for improving its bottom line, according to Chuck Phillips, an analyst at Morgan Stanley & Co., in New York.
In the fourth quarter just ended, Novell reported revenue growth of $384 million, $17 million above the Morgan Stanley forecast, Phillips said. IntranetWare and NetWare 4.0 revenues grew 43 percent to $181 million during the quarter.
***************** LOOK OUT, HERE IT COMES !!!!! ********************
"Anecdotal, but not yet conclusive, evidence suggests the initial sell-through of IntranetWare in the channel was encouraging" during the quarter, he said.
The migration tools are available now for download at the Novell Web site at www.novell.com/.

Here you are again. The Morgan Stanley analyts says "anecdotal but not yet conclusive evidence suggests ..... was encouraging during the Q...
There is ALWAYS a but, or if this, or if that, or weeellll maybe, etc... There is NEVER anything said without qualifiers.
Aren't you tired of that Novell folk? Doesn't that just piss you off?
Oh well, like I said to Leo (you know, the fella doing his thesis), when he asked what the culture was at Novell.
I believe I answered: "Masochism".
